As the NBA All-Star game approaches, so too does the opportunity for the top shoe manufacturers to show the full force of their design and creative teams. With a focus on limited runs of sneaks for the sneaker heads to create high profile sales, the major brands look to create a limited, customized product to fill that demand. And of course when you mix filling demand and limited edition, you get a high price.

So which shoes will your favorite All-Star be wearing?

Models: Durant 6 (Left), Kobe9 (Middle) Lebron 11 (right)

Nike came out strong with their top players, Durant, LeBron, and Kobe, as they have been voted starters in the game. Although Kobe is injured, I wouldn’t be surprised if we see this model on another player in the game.

The color way matches the Mardi Gra theme of the location and jerseys in a subtle ways. We can see the green and purple on the LeBron’s as he is playing for the East, and hints of red in Durant’s shoe for the West. Overall I think this collection is strong, the color ways are unique enough without having obnoxious loud colors, and this could be possibly be the best collection of shoes from the main trio.

Nike didn’t stop with just the shoes, the company that thrives on story telling also added these product cards included in every box, Durant posting a parade stance, Kobe the maestro of the bayou, and LeBron the king gator of the swamp. These cards are the finishing touch of this collection that captures the culture of the game in the Big Easy.

Nike Bonus- Jordan Brand

We don’t know which pair Blake Griffin will be rocking (most likely the Super Fly 2 in the middle) in his starting role but we do know that Melo will be rocking his new signature Jordan model (Below) which shows a play on the Voodoo theme of the city with it’s color way. Jordan brand, which really takes shoe architecture to the next level, came through with a strong collection including the CP3.VII (left) and the new Air Jordan XX8 SE. Jordan brand players will be well represented in kicks this All-Star break.

Models: Crazy 1 (above), Crazy 8 (below)

Adidas includes the re-emergence of the Crazy 1 (Formerly Kobe Bryant’s signature shoe) as well as the Crazy 8′s ( Worn mainly by Kevin Garnett and more recently  Damian Lillard). Adidas also had the task of creating the All-Star jerseys, which holds a solid and strong design, but went for a little more festive look for the game shoes. We definitely can see the Mardi Gra theme here come to life with paint splats and free hand designs on the side sole. The Crazy 8′s are always a classic and with the bright orange color it is sure to turn some heads this All- Star season.

Adidas has always been an innovator when it comes to party-themed, streetwear inspired shoes and apparel and this collection is no different.

Under Armour

Model: Possibly Under Armour UA Anatomix Spawn Lows

As Stephen Curry let his Nike contract expire, he turned to Under Armour to become his sneaker provider. When Curry made the All-Star team for the West he also brought Under Armour some much needed attention when it came to the basketball market. Although we don’t know which color way Curry will be rocking, we can assume either the Grammy Gold (above) or the more NOLA color themed edition (below) of his UA Anatomix Spawn model. Either way this is a big step up for Under Armour and a great opportunity to gain some ground in the market.

Li-Ning Way of the Wade

Model: Way of Wade 2

Wade left Jordan Brand to sign with a company out of China, which brought him a sweet endorsement deal that included owning rights within the company. Last All-Star game he wore the above purple model and we can assume a similar color way this year. Although we don’t have any news on the model he will wear, it is pretty safe to say it will be the Way of Wade 2.
